Queer Joy: A Population-Health Factor and a Lever for Mental Health and Resilience. Findings from the Queer Joy Photovoice Project.

Faced with anti-2SLGBTQIA+ hate, the aftermath of the pandemic, and eco-anxiety (the impacts of which on the mental health of queer and trans people have been well documented), joy becomes a form of resistance and a factor of community resilience. Dr. Dennis L. Stuebing (he/him) will present the findings of the Queer Joy Photovoice project, community-based research conducted in partnership with queer, trans, and Two-Spirit organizations, which explores how queer joy strengthens the well-being and cohesion of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities across Canada.
Dennis L. Stuebing is the Executive Director and Co-Owner of Wisdom2Action, a consulting firm with a social enterprise commitment. He holds a Doctorate in Global Studies, a Master of Arts in International Development, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. He has a background in project management and policy analysis in government and civil society organizations, and his research has focused in part on children’s rights, protection, and participation in emergency contexts.
