Workshop 13

This workshop offers a practical introduction to navigating New Brunswick’s health care system, with particular attention to the realities and needs of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Gilles Vienneau (he/him) will present practical tools to help participants better understand how the system works, identify pathways to available services, and support simpler and more effective navigation, particularly in mental and physical health contexts. The workshop will also highlight the importance of access to care that is more inclusive, safer, and better adapted to the lived realities of people of diverse sexualities and genders.

Gilles Vienneau has been Executive Director of the Société Santé et Mieux-être en français du Nouveau-Brunswick since its creation in 2004. He holds a bachelor’s degree in social work with a concentration in community development from the Université de Moncton and has spent more than 35 years in Acadian and francophone community development across Canada — from Alberta to the Yukon and on to Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Ottawa. He was a founding member of Éducacentre and executive director of the Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française. His areas of expertise are organizational development, strategic planning, and issues related to health and community economic development.
