Workshop 10

This presentation will address the clinical and psychosocial assessment conducted prior to accessing certain forms of gender-affirming healthcare. Amy Otteson (she/her) and Zivi Richard (they/them) will offer insights into assessment practices, the needs of trans and gender-diverse people, and how to write a referral letter that follows the WPATH SOC 8.

Zivi Richard is a queer and non-binary clinical social worker and 2SLGBTQIA+ Policy Analyst at the Office of Women and Gender Equity, as well as a member of the Advisory Committee for the Provincial Health Summit. They have fifteen years of experience in gender-based violence prevention, gender diversity inclusion, and gender-affirming care.

Amy Otteson is a Licensed Psychologist on the Addictions and Mental Health Child and Youth Team and also has a small private practice in the Fredericton area. She has expertise in issues related to 2SLGBTQI+ populations and is a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and the Canadian Professional Association for Transgender Health (CPATH). She is a founding member of the NB Transgender Health Network and co-chairs the Provincial 2SLGBTQI+ Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
