Workshop 8

This workshop offers an analysis of health inequalities through a sociological and feminist lens, highlighting the structural dynamics that shape access to services and experiences of care. Drawing on the sociology of health and gender analysis, it will explore how social norms and institutions shape health realities. The workshop aims to foster critical reflection through dialogue between clinical and activist perspectives, in order to better understand the mechanisms that produce these inequalities and to open pathways for transforming practices.

Monique Brideau (she/her) is trained as a sociologist and currently works in public health. Her interests focus particularly on feminist theories and health inequalities. She has served on the board of directors of the Regroupement féministe du Nouveau-Brunswick and has been teaching sociology at the Université de Moncton as a lecturer since 2017. Her background reflects a strong commitment to building dialogue between academic knowledge, professional practice, and struggles for social justice.
